Well, after slogging a 200 pound sled 15 miles through polar bear country, I started to think they had lied to me. Arriving at “camp” was cool.. oh, a snow field in the Arctic, chill chill. Do I get to go cut down a tree, drag it back to camp, buck it up, and burn it to prevent my blood from turning to ice? Perfect! Oh, and I get to do that again tomorrow too! Ideal.
Tomorrow will be great though! Let’s wake up at 5am after sleeping in 30 second intervals due to the winds techno like effect on our “definitely winter” tent. Care for a delicious breakfast? Yum.. Is that energy goo touting to be “Watermelon Chocolate Java”? How about a SlimJim I found in my snow pants from the Regan administration? And course a good meal wouldn’t be complete without a full quart of sunscreen.. Fully nourished we began our accent. Do we get to hike for uphill for 10 straight hours today?? Perfect! I’m so glad I brought these skis with me on this ski trip. They’ll be perfect for that daily 10 minute window where we’re not homesteading on a glacier and also happen to be directing our bodies downhill.
Anyways the trip was incredible. Didn’t actually get to ski any of the lines we wanted due to avalanche danger, but the view of the peaks was nice from the community wagbag.
